Scout Motors is an American electric vehicle manufacturer founded in 2022, reviving the historic Scout brand to produce electric trucks and rugged SUVs. The company combines American engineering with the resources of the Volkswagen Group. Its initial products are the Traveler SUV and the Terra pickup truck, both featuring body-on-frame construction, off-road capability, and optional hybrid powertrains with up to 500 miles of range.
The company has committed $2 billion to a production facility with a target annual capacity of 200,000 vehicles, a project expected to create approximately 4,000 jobs. It employs a direct-to-consumer sales model. Its operations are spread across the United States, with offices in Michigan, Virginia, California, North Carolina, and a manufacturing presence in South Carolina, as well as in Canada.
