The New York Power Authority (NYPA) is the largest state public power organization in the United States. Founded in 1931, the authority operates 17 generating facilities and maintains more than 1,550 circuit-miles of transmission lines across New York State. It is headquartered in White Plains, NY.
More than 80 percent of the electricity NYPA produces is clean, renewable hydropower, which it provides at some of the cheapest rates in North America. The authority's technical focus spans renewable energy development, electric vehicle infrastructure, energy efficiency programs, and grid modernization. Its EVolve NY initiative is advancing electric vehicle charging infrastructure as part of the VISION2030 Renewed strategic plan.
